COUNTY EXECUTIVE GIORDANO TO HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE
REGARDING WICOMICO NURSING HOME

Press Conference Will Address Recent Events, Misinformation, and the Path Forward

SALISBURY, MD — Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano will hold a press conference on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Wicomico County Council Chambers to address recent events and ongoing concerns surrounding the Wicomico Nursing Home.

Over the past several weeks, significant public discussion has occurred regarding the Nursing Home, including statements and allegations that have created confusion about its operations, administration, and current circumstances. County Executive Giordano believes the public deserves a clear and factual understanding of what has occurred, the actions that have been taken, and the County’s path forward.

“There has been a tremendous amount of misinformation, speculation, and hearsay circulating about the Nursing Home, and unfortunately, much of it has been presented to the public without the full context,” said County Executive Giordano. “The residents of Wicomico County deserve facts. They deserve to understand what has actually occurred, why certain decisions have been made, and what we are doing to protect the long-term stability and success of this important facility.”

During the press conference, the County Executive will provide information regarding recent developments at the Nursing Home, address several of the claims and misconceptions that have circulated publicly, and discuss the steps being taken moving forward.

The County Executive will also emphasize the importance of distinguishing between legitimate concerns and unverified allegations. Decisions affecting the Nursing Home, its employees, its residents, and Wicomico County taxpayers should be based on documented facts and a complete understanding of the circumstances—not rumors, political rhetoric, or incomplete information.

“The Nursing Home serves some of the most vulnerable members of our community, and discussions about its future should reflect the seriousness of that responsibility,” Giordano said. “This press conference is an opportunity to put the facts before the public, provide necessary context, and explain where we go from here.”

Members of the media and the public are invited to attend.
