Suspect arrested in shooting rampage at Virginia State University days before classes begin

A teenager has been arrested hours after five people were shot at Virginia State University just as new freshman arrived on campus.

None of the victims were killed in the 1.30am shooting, but one is fighting for their life in hospital as of Saturday evening.

Police arrested a Camron Harris, 19, who is not a VSU student, of Henrico, Virginia, about 4pm on Saturday after finding him hiding in a closet on campus.

He was charged with eight felonies including four counts of malicious wounding and four of using of a firearm in commission of a felony, Chesterfield County Police said.

The teenager’s alleged motive and connection to the university are yet to be revealed.

Campus police and Chesterfield County officers discovered five people suffering from gunshot wounds in the university’s Quad Annexes outside campus dormitories.

At least one of the wounded was later confirmed to be a student.

The shooting was still under investigation later on Saturday and happened as Virginia State’s academic year began.

  1. That is funny, now all of a sudden shootings are happening again, when none were weeks and months ago. and isn’t it funny how “shootings” are happening soon as the AG said they would go after the politicians ignoring the laws and who tried to pass unconstitutional laws and then ignored the AG when they said it was unconstitutional. But hey, flock cameras will stop criminals from getting guns right? I told you moronic slaves, this all was coming. and here you have it! Jokes on you now huh.
