Howard County is clocking in with one of the highest vaccination rates in the state at 21%, however, data shows among those 63,000 doses administered, inequities persist, and Monday local leaders announced a plan to bridge the divide.
St. John Baptist Church has stepped up before to offer help during the coronavirus pandemic. Previously, the church parking lot served as a drive-through coronavirus testing site in an effort to reach underserved populations and meet people where they are.
On Monday, the county announced the church will host COVID-19 vaccine clinics as part of a vaccine equity push.
Howard County Executive Calvin Ball rolled up his left sleeve Monday for the single-dose Johnson & Johnson, also known as the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.
There’s that word again- EQUITY. Be aware every time you see it. Equality means equality of opportunity. Equity mean equality of outcome- everyone gets exactly the same thing. It means blatant reverse discrimination. It means a healthy young 20 year old black kids get the shot before an vulnerable 75 year old Asian woman. Equity is communism. Oh, and Salisbury University has an “Office of Institutional Equity” – literally an office to enfore a communist ideal on campus. Buy ammo.
I don’t get it. How is there underserved populations? I don’t give a chit what color you are. Don’t you have to do like myself and others, get on the list at your local health department and wait? I requested a vaccine long ago and heard nothing. Went back online and threw my name in the pot again, after not hearing from them. The third time I placed a call and finally got a human. No faulting the lady, but was told to wait and be patient. This is Wicomico County. Can I drive to Howard County and visit a black Baptist brick and mortar? I’m in my late 70’s with what they claim underlining conditions. I heard them on TV the other day say they can get or pay for transportation to local underserved communities for folks to get a shot. I can get there and want one. I do not believe there is “one” person in these locations or Wicomico County that can not get, find, or have a ride to get where they want. Again, why was the offer put out to pay for a ride when we already have a failed “public” transportation system. And you public officials, don’t have to get on here to contradict my thoughts because I don’t believe you or the likes of you. Just like the fat boy in Annapolis, all talk for their own attention. That simple headed Biden taking credit for what our good president left us. That’s all folks!
