Danny Conservative: Maryland lawmakers want to ban handguns that can be modified to shoot faster WMAR ABC Baltimore Maryland Continues to Trample on 2nd Amendment Rights (Article and Response)

Article Responding To:
ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Maryland lawmakers are closing in on banning the sale of handguns that can be easily modified to shoot faster.
Both chambers have passed different versions of the legislation that need to be reconciled after Republicans tried multiple amendments to stop the bill from passing.
The legislation is being framed as a ban on Glocks, which are among the most purchased firearms in the state, though it goes beyond that specific manufacturer. The goal is to ban switches, which lawmakers say can increase the rate of fire on a semi-automatic handgun.
“This applies to any gun manufacturer that designs their guns in a way that would allow for these types of what we call Glock switches, auto sears, to be attached to the back of the gun. This bill is not targeting Glock, it applies to a number of different gun manufacturers,” Delegate Nicole Williams said.
Republicans argue that making this type of gun sale illegal does not harm criminals, but rather law-abiding gun owners.
“And once we start down this slippery slope, how far do you go before you basically say, we ban anything that could potentially be converted into an illegal weapon,” Delegate Jason Buckel said.
“This is about limiting accessibility to do the most harm. I think that’s what we’re really talking about right now,” Williams said.
Senate Republicans called the legislation virtue signaling, adding that it might have backfired.
“We’ve gotten some very interesting data from these dealers that say that it has increased gun sales dramatically,” Senator Steve Hershey said.
Response:
The State of Maryland since 2013 has been aggressively trampling on “2nd Amendment Rights” with the Maryland Firearms Safety Act of 2013 the one of the ‘Most Aggressive” gun control laws passed anywhere in the Country. Which was signed into law by former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley.
From that to Red Flag Laws, Banning Bump stocks, the ” Gun Transfer” bill,  and banning Ghost Guns.
The results from 2015 – 2022 the State of Maryland saw homicides in the State go through the roof, Baltimore City was averaging over 300 homicides a year, despite all these “gun control laws” on the books…
So Gun Control laws in Maryland completely failed to ” Reduce Crime ” or “Save lives” in the State the opposite happened.
What has reduced crime  and has saved lives in the State is “Public Safety Course Corrections” in mid 2022 then US Attorney Baltimore Erik Barron started federally prosecuting violent criminals in the State, especially in Baltimore City with an old Al Capone Statute, and Baltimore City elected a new States Attorney Ivan Bates in 2023, who has focused on prosecuting violent criminals in the City and keeping them behind bars. The Results of those efforts in 2025 Baltimore City saw “it’s lowest amount of homicides” in decades!…
This is a comparison/ contrast of what works and what doesn’t when it comes to public safety of communities and citizens. Passing “gun control laws” like this banning the most common used gun in the State to punish law abiding hunters and sportsman doesn’t work, what does work is enforcing laws on violent criminals who do not follow any law including every single gun rule / law / and  regulation that the Democrats in Annapolis have been passing on the citizens of Maryland since 2013…
Folks we have a Governor in this State who in late 2025 made it very clear he does not give an “f” about making legitimate arguments on issues, let’s hope the voter’s this November do….
