Response:
Here is our response at Danny Conservative to the issues Delegate / Majority Leader Moon is addressing:
On the issue of “Affordability” Health Care & Housing:
Since January of 2023 the State of Maryland/ Moore Administration has increased Taxes and Fees on businesses and working families by $2 billion dollars, through heavy regulations on “Traditional Energy Providers” have increased energy rates as much of 1000 percent around the State, and has increased property taxes on homes and and businesses through assessment on property, and plans to do it again for FY 26.
On health Care the Affordable Care Act since 2010 has eliminated significant competition and choice on healthcare providers across the Country, and the Medicaid rolls in Maryland have expanded to to over a million people reported in 2024, Marylands population is roughly 6 Million people definitely a “major cost” to the State…
On housing, the Governor and Housing Secretary Day rolled out a plan to build 96 Thousand Units around the State, offering a $50 Thousand dollar discount for the unit through “Project Uplift” to make housing “More Affordable” on Juneteenth of 2025 in Cambridge, MD $400 Million Dollars was announced to get “ball rolling” on this initiative by Governor Moore & Housing Secretary Day… Overall a $4.8 Billion Dollar cost to the taxpayers of Maryland to make “Housing Affordable”…
On the issue of “Accountability for ICE” :
Since the Trump Administrations coming back to power in January of 2025, they have gone in a different direction on immigration than, the Biden Administration, especially on illegal immigration. Stronger enforcement, ICE had an issue in Anne Arundel County on Christmas Eve of 2025 where someone was shot during an ICE operation, however the individuals reportedly came at the agents with their car. Anne Arundel leaders don’t wish to “coordinate” with ICE making its harder for them to operate in a County like that coined a “Sanctuary County”. Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins a defender of the 287g program has said better communication, coordination, and cooperation with ICE can help “mitigate” situations like when happened in Anne Arundel County…
It has been reported in the case of Rene Good in Minnesota she did receive “Anti Ice Training”.. Maryland has been a strong “Sanctuary State” for Illegal Immigration since October of 2010 when famously then Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley coined the phrase “New Americans” when it came undocumented immigrants in the State. Since The Trump Administration has come to power the Moore Administration through its Attorney General Anthony Brown has “led the resistance” against the Trump Administration’s with policies on immigration, especially illegal immigration with “threatening memo’s” and endless lawsuits against the Trump Administration….
On the issue of “Balancing a Budget After DOGE & Big Bad Fed Cuts”:
In January of 2023, Governor Hogan left $5 Billion Dollars in the reserves from COVID money, for the incoming Moore Administration, by January of 2025 before President Trump was sworn into office on January 20th 2025, by January 8th 2025 the State was reported facing a $3 Billion Dollar budget shortfall. Joe Biden was still President at this point, and the next day on the 9th of January the Moore Administration gave away a $Billion dollars at the Maryland Board of Public Works Meeting, 1 day after it was reported the State was $3 Billion Dollars in the hole…. Repeat Maryland was reported”$3 Billion in the hole” before President Trump had set foot back in the White House…..
&
On the issue of “Redistricting in Unprecedented Times” :
Governor Moore has called for “Early Redistricting” due to States like Texas and California actions. He put together a commission led by Maryland US Senator Angela Alsobrooks to listen to public comment on the matter. These efforts have been been met with criticism from the Washington Post editorial board, and even the Maryland State Senate President Bill Ferguson:
“What we know is the attorney general has said that it’s going to be about 120 days at least to prepare for a case in the world that a redistricting bill moves forward. That means that the window for action has already closed.
The filing deadline is February 23 for congressional races. That is well-past 120 days. And so really, we’ve missed the window to do anything. And if we tried to do something now, it would be even more constitutionally challenging because of the lack of timeliness of acting.”
Maryland Senate President LD 46 Bill Ferguson 01-13-2026
Governor Moore’s response to the criticism was “IDGAF”…. An interview he gave on meet the press last November of 2025….
So this is our response here at Danny Conservative to Majority Leader Moon’s take on the issues the State of Maryland is facing going into the 2026 Legislative Session in Annapolis… We are sure our ” perspective” is a bit different than the Majority Leader’s… However we stand by our responses base on the vast amount of reserve have done….
