COLLEGE PARK, Md. (7News) — Gov. Wes Moore on Thursday touted sharp declines in violent crime and announced major increases in state spending on public safety and education as he continued a statewide tour promoting his new budget proposal.
Moore said his budget includes what he described as a record $124.1 million in public safety aid for local law enforcement agencies. The funding, he said, would support additional patrols and bolster special operations units.
Later in the day, Moore visited Frederick High School in Frederick County, where he promoted his plan to increase state education spending by more than $373 million, bringing total funding to a record $10.2 billion.
The governor’s proposals come as Maryland continues to face a $1.4 billion budget shortfall, even after lawmakers approved significant tax and fee increases last year. Asked whether taxpayers can afford additional spending, Moore said he intends to submit a balanced budget without raising taxes.
The governor has not explained how the state will pay for the increased spending at a time when Maryland is already $1.4 billion in the red, State Senate Minority Leader Steve Hershey said.
“The governor just talks about more money for this and more money for that and never gives any indication of where that money is going to come from,” Hershey said.
Hershey warned that the state could face annual deficits of more than $3 billion within the next three years as the Blueprint’s costs continue to grow.
MARYLAND (WBFF) — There are calls for accountability and federal oversight amid an alleged SNAP scandal at the Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS) first reported by Spotlight on Maryland.
Multiple whistleblowers told Spotlight on Maryland that two senior state officials allegedly hatched a plan to maintain a high error rate on food stamp payments, hoping to delay $240 million dollars in federal penalties.
Gov. Moore told Frost, “Well, no. And also, I want to be clear that that’s not the case. Their whistleblower allegations are false. We have actually uncovered the fact that the allegations that were being made, those things were not happening.”

Since January of 2023 with the inception of the Moore Administration. The Moore Administration inherited $5 Billion Dollars from the previous Administration.
Since that that time the Moore Administration “Spent Big” on Boondoggle Energy and Transportation projects, the Kirwan Blueprint for Education, has used the Maryland Board of Public Works as a “Miniature USAID”, Socially Engineered “Affordable Housing” and hired 5 thousand new State employees.
The results of this “Mass Spending” $3 Billion Dollars in the hole as of January of 2025, with Tax and Fee Increases on Marylands Small Businesses and Working Families that Tally up to $2 Billion Dollars since 2024.
So going into the 2026 Legislative Session the State is facing a $1.5 Billion Dollar budget shortfall, yet The Moore Administration is proposing major increases in spending on Education and Public Safety.
The Moore Administration has said “No new tax and fee increases” for FY 26, however at the end of December of 2025 SDAT announced for another year. Increases on property assessments, which will lead to property tax increases on businesses and homeowners for FY 26. Meaning the Moore Administration isn’t telling the truth about increasing taxes on businesses and homeowners for FY 26…
On the issue of “potential fraud” on federal “Snap Benefits” at the States Department of Human Services. The same State agency that has just been found in “negligence” over the death of a foster child who was in custody in a hotel in Baltimore City, Kanaiyah Ward who died of an overdose. It’s time for a “Full Investigation” into this agency, and for the resignation of Secretary Lopez.
With what we are seeing Nationally in Minnesota with fraud, there are audit reports in Maryland where Billions of Dollars being spent with “Weak Oversight” on how it’s being spent, and in Baltimore City where millions of dollars from city is going to “Non Profits” that are not in “good standing” with the City or the State. All of this should be investigated and accountability, solutions, and course corrections seem to be desperately needed…..
Grin Moore, Tax Moore or Less Moore, whatever you prefer to call him, among other things. has just got to go!! He is the ruination and total destruction of this state. And we complained about Hogan??? Shame on us. Please vot his ass out at election time!
And don’t forget hogan endorsed him over a republican that had no baggage.
I think we all know where the money is going to come from …..
