New documents reviewed by Congress show that the FBI had clear alerts from multiple informants about plans for armed violence at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. These warnings, coming from sources embedded in various radical groups, pointed to a deliberate attack during the certification of the 2020 election results. Despite the details, security measures remained inadequate, leaving the building vulnerable.
Rep. Barry Loudermilk, who leads the House investigation into law enforcement lapses that day, examined the informant reports firsthand. He described the intelligence as consistent and alarming, gathered from about two dozen sources across different FBI field offices. “There is no way that at least the Washington Field Office or the FBI headquarters was not aware that there were elements, not the entire crowd. There were elements of people coming to Washington, DC with the intent of attacking the Capitol of the United States,” Loudermilk said.
They didn’t fail to act-they were in on it.
