New Mexico News Station Tries to Garner Sympathy for Food Stamp Recipients by Featuring Woman Who’s Been on SNAP for Three Decades (VIDEO)

One of the ways that the government shutdown has backfired on Democrats, is that it has awakened the public to widespread abuse of the food stamp program SNAP, and it has shown how many Americans are on the program.

The numbers are staggering.

In New Mexico, one news station tried to run a piece that would make SNAP recipients look sympathetic. They interviewed a woman who has been on SNAP benefits for more than thirty years.

Is this supposed to make the public feel bad? How many more people out there have been on SNAP benefits for this long? Is this what was intended when the program was created? A lifetime of free food on the taxpayers’ dime?

For Maggie Aragon, a New Mexico woman who’s relied on federal food assistance for more than 30 years, the moment her SNAP balance dropped to zero was life-altering, she says.

  1. this is a way of life for many lazy ignorant individuals. Several generations living in the same household receiving benefits. You want to eat? then work! my taxes are not your freebies!
