Zero Democrat Senators Will Miss a Single Calorie of Food When Their Shutdown Cuts Off Food Stamps

The architects of Washington’s spending addiction—the same people who’ve weaponized a “shutdown” to terrify the public—are well-fed, well-paid, and utterly insulated from the consequences of their own political theater.

The Senate Democrats who refused to pass a clean continuing resolution—all for the sake of renewing a Covid-era Obamacare provision that benefits illegal aliens—have no reason to worry about groceries or gas. Their paychecks are protected by law. Their vast refrigerators, shelves, and walk-in pantries remain stocked. Their Capitol cafeterias remain open. Yet the same “shutdown” they engineered threatens the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which provides food to more than 40 million low-income Americans.

It’s not the first time Washington elites have played chicken with the livelihoods of ordinary citizens. Each time, the game is the same: create a crisis, manufacture blame, and posture as defenders of the poor while making them the collateral damage of political brinkmanship.

But this shutdown—led by Senate Democrats and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer—is different. It’s a test of power, not principle. They’re holding America’s working class and vulnerable citizens hostage to force compliance with their globalist budget priorities.

During the last government shutdown, many benefits were delayed for weeks. Families lined up at food banks that were already stretched thin. Federal workers were furloughed. Yet members of Congress continued to collect their paychecks. At the time, Nancy Pelosi famously celebrated with a gigantic supply of gourmet ice cream in her designer freezer. The message hasn’t changed: Washington’s ruling class never suffers the consequences of its policies.

Now, with inflation still eroding paychecks and grocery prices up more than 25% since 2020, Democrats have decided to weaponize the shutdown again. Instead of voting to keep government services funded for ordinary Americans, they’ve prioritized political expediency.
