SNOW HILL – Worcester County continues to work toward tightening its animal control laws as situations locally have raised concerns among citizens.
As incidents in Pocomoke and Berlin have drawn criticism from those who believe the county’s animal control laws aren’t strong enough, Commissioner Josh Nordstrom says changes are being drafted. Various county departments are now working together to create more comprehensive animal control regulations.
“I’m hoping we’ll get this brought to a satisfying conclusion for everyone,” Nordstrom said.
Nordstrom first brought up the issue of strengthening the county’s animal control laws in January, citing specific concerns about a dog breeding operation in Pocomoke. In the weeks since, citizens in the north end of the county have brought attention to a situation in Berlin where a dog did not have adequate shelter.
Josh the guy in your district is not near as bad as the Berlin dog. Why do you have to do all the talking and promising. Who’s district is the Berlin dog in, Bud Church, or Bunting? Lets hear from them too. The guy in Pocomoke is definitely a irresponsible owner, but those dogs have adequate shelter, better than the Berlin dog. That Berlin guy needs to be prosecuted. I’ll be surprised to see the commissioners change much. From what I’m hearing they want more proof, or some bullcrap. They’re not much help. I think they just want their a$$es kissed by the departments more than anything, with no results.
