An Arkansas father who was charged with second-degree murder last October after allegedly killing a man he found raping his teenage daughter is now running to be sheriff.
The dad, Aaron Spencer, allegedly gunned down 67-year-old Michael Fosler when Spencer’s 14-year-old daughter went missing from their home and was tracked down only to be found in Fosler’s vehicle.
Fosler had already been charged with multiple sexual offenses against Spencer’s daughter, so when the father found the pair together he allegedly ran the car off the road and shot Fosler dead.
The girl’s mother, Heather, wrote in an online fundraiser that her daughter was “targeted, groomed and ultimately raped by the boyfriend of a family friend,” adding, “We let the justice system do its job. The monster who hurt our child was charged quickly, but released even faster on a $50k bond. He was awaiting court in December for several felonies in relation to what he did to our child.”
Now, Spencer hopes to become the next sheriff of Lonoke County after witnessing firsthand how courts and law enforcement fail citizens.
“I’m the father who acted to protect his daughter when the system failed,” Spencer said in a video going viral online. “Through my own fight for justice, I have seen firsthand the failures in law enforcement and in our circuit court. And I refuse to stand by while others face these same failures.”
