Maryland was the first state to implement a police bill of rights. It could also be the first state to repeal it.
The Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights was implemented in 1974. Almost 50 years ago. One of its key components is providing due process for officers accused of misconduct. Officers are also given up to five days to make a statement if they find themselves under investigation, which Sheriff Lewis agrees needs to change. “I would like the ability to get rid of a deputy much quicker, much quicker than we currently do.”
Salisbury Police Chief Barbara Duncan says the current disciplinary process needs updating, but worries about a complete repeal.
“That would leave us with individual jurisdictions developing their own process and their own procedures and every jurisdiction is going to be different as far as what’s applicable and what’s not.”

So remove the same protection lawmakers have when their laws harm or kill citizens.
Why should 99% of police age honest, why punish them because of the crooked 1%.
Every place of employment has its bad, crooked or lazy workers.
Lewis used the protection of the policemen’s bill of rights while in the state police and it saved his career. Instead they simply kept transferring him to different barracks. Ironic he doesn’t like the law now.
On the upside getting rid of the law would allow law enforcement to openly talk to reporters, strike and picot. Something they cannot not do currently.
Get up a drive / referendum on taking away all Politians perks from not having to abide by the laws they pass to their retirement and benefits,
