Maryland Congressman Urges Single Dose Vaccinations

Congressman Andy Harris (R, MD) says limiting shots to a single dose would allow the state to extend its supply.

Harris cites data from the New England Journal of Medicine . Researchers discovered Pfizer’s vaccine can be between 85-92% effective after 14 days.

“A single shot of the mRNA viruses does impart immunity in almost as great an extent as two shots,” Rep. Harris says, “I think it’s about time we consider giving all vulnerable people and all essential people one shot and then when they all have it, circle back around and give them that shot.”

According to Scientific American, the first vaccine dose primes your immune system’s memory. The second solidifies it.

Local health experts, like Kathryn Fiddler of TidalHealth Peninsula Regional, say until they’re told otherwise, they will continue recommending two doses.

“We operate under science and what the emergency use authorization says, so I’m just going to go back to that’s the recommendation and that’s what it’s saying, but what’s the right answer? I don’t know,” says Fiddler.
Congressman Harris says he does support two doses of the COVID vaccine, but until enough vaccines are available, he will continue to follow in the footsteps of country’s like Great Britain who are only allocating single doses.

  1. Bunch of half wits on fb, talking smack about what they think Andy Harris said, because they did not actually read what Andy Harris said.

Thank you for publishing the article so I didn’t have to google it.
