State OKs $465 million contract to expand placement of foster children  By:Nicole Pilsbury-September 10, 20257:49 pm  Where is the Fiscal Responsibility from the Moore Administration? Maryland Matters (Article and Response)

The Board of Public Works approved $465 million Wednesday to expand the number of beds available for placement of foster children, in what state officials called a “critical” step toward meeting youth care needs.

In January of 2025 it was reported that the State of Maryland was facing a $3 Billion Dollar Deficit. In January of 2023 the Moore Administration inherited $5 Billion Dollars in the reserves from the Hogan Administration.

The response during the 2025 Maryland legislative session was increasing Taxes and Fees by $1.6 Billion Dollars, on top of the over the over $400 Million Dollars of Tax and Fee Increases from the 2024 legislative session.

Now Since April of this year Governor Moore and his Administration has taken Maryland on a “Massive Spending Spree” $400 Million Dollars for Impacted Areas around the State, $400 Million Dollars for revitalizing Pimlico  Race Track in Baltimore City, $300 Million Dollars for IT Contracts, and now $465 Million Plus dollars for placement of Foster Children.
When you add this it up this comes to roughly $1.5 Billion Dollars, that’s most of the $1.6 Billion Dollars the Tax and Fee Increases from this past session, how does Governor Moore and his Administration plan to pay for Kirwan? Where is this “Fiscal Responsibility” Governor Moore keeps talking about?

This is the epitome of what “Tax and Spend” looks like, Maryland needs change in 2026.

  1. This Mooron and his cronies have not had any fiscal responsibility from day one. Their only success is making this state worse than some 3rd world country’s!

  2. fiscal responsibility? what about the personal responsibility of those who procreate without the physical, mental, emotional or financial capacity to actually raise a child in todays world? You need a licesnse to cut someones hair, a license to trim and paint someones nails, but you can pump out kid after kid drop them on the state and society and never have to account for your actions! maybe you need a license to prove you’ve actually been vetted to see if you can handle the challenges and responisbily to properly raise a child? Norplant works wonders and at some point if you actually manage to get your sh@t together it can be removed. Which is worse for society someone who gives bad haircuts or some one who turns feral animals loose on society? God will hold you accountable even if society will not!
