The Town of Ocean City and Worcester County are challenging an air quality permit issued to US Wind by the Maryland Department of Environment.
On July 11, the two entities filed a petition for judicial review in Worcester County Circuit Court, claiming the department erred in issuing an air quality certification to the offshore wind company, which has plans to construct up to 114 wind turbines starting about at 11 miles from Ocean City’s coastline.
Department Deputy Director of Communications Jay Apperson said this week that the agency is in the process of reviewing the appeal.
“We have received and are reviewing a petition for judicial review of the air permit for the U.S. Wind project that was filed in state circuit court by the Mayor and City Council of Ocean City and the Worcester County commissioners,” he said. “We remain committed to ensuring all our permit processes are transparent and in accordance with the law.”
I would think the windmill companies would need more than an “air quality permit” to build off the coast of Ocean City
The plan is to drag this out as long as possible until Trump’s mandates catch up, eliminating this mess once and for all.
