Is college worth all the expense and trouble these days? I used to think it was. But look at all the changes for the worse.
So much of what passes for a college education these days is indoctrination in political correctness.
A recent study reported in Newsweek found that one in four Gen Z college graduates regret attending university – all the trouble, all the expense, all the debt. Pew Research Center says Gen Z are those born from 1997 through 2012.
Writing for Newsweek, Suzanne Blake observes: “As artificial intelligence transforms the workplace and student debt balloons, a significant portion of Generation Z now expresses regret over their college education. According to a new survey by Resume Genius, 23 percent of full-time Gen Z workers regret attending college, and 19 percent say their degree didn’t contribute to their career.”
Blake adds, “Only 32 percent said they’re content with their education path and wouldn’t change it, according to Resume Genius.”
I am so glad that I was able to study at college in the 1970s. It was liberal, but it wasn’t Marxist.
For years, a child was told that if they wanted a good education, they must go to college. If you want a good job, you must go to college. Alot of people ( and no, I don’t have facts and figures ) don’t even get a job in their field of study after graduation.
Thier are many trades out there that after training and apprenticeship, they can be making real money ( real good money ) and have little to no debt. Most trades will send you to training and pay you to be attend.
A college grad, after four years of attending college could be in debt of more than $200k.
While a person that works out in the field in one of the many trades that are out there could have already made $200k in the same time period.
Maybe every educator and parent out there should stop pushing college and start advising them on what trade they be best suited for.
8:19 – Amen! Both of my kids are working through the trades to become electricians. AI may kill off a lot of jobs, but we still need the trades no matter what.
I heard Mike Rowe saying that there were just massive needs all over the country for the trades in general, and also noting that they are pretty much recession proof. After my kids finish their apprenticeships, they both have multiple offers already that are more than starting teachers make!
Parasites running out of hosts!
