OUTRAGE: Cranbury, NJ Moves to Seize 175-Year-Old Family Farm to Make Way for ‘Affordable Housing’ Project

Another American legacy is on the chopping block—this time in deep-blue New Jersey, where local officials are ramming through a plan to bulldoze a 175-year-old family farm in the name of “affordable housing.”

NJ.com reported that Chris Henry stood before the Cranbury Township Committee, pleading with officials not to rip his family’s heritage from the soil their great-grandfather purchased in 1850.

The Henry family, whose parents both served in World War II and whose mother’s name is etched into the town’s war memorial, is now watching bureaucrats prepare to seize their 21-acre farm by force.

Their crime? Refusing to sell.

The family has poured over $200,000 into preserving the historic Middlesex County farm, which is currently leased to a local rancher who raises sheep and cattle.

Despite the property’s agricultural use and historical importance, the Cranbury Township Committee voted unanimously in May to move forward with seizing the land through eminent domain.

All of this—just to meet a state-mandated housing quota pushed by far-left courts and Trenton bureaucrats.

  1. Good. People are more important than sheep and cattle. The use of “emminent domain” is for the best usage of land. Just because your ancestors gave you land doesn’t mean you can just sit on it and not contribute anything to society. Move or get out of the way.

    1. Hey 925 : you are a true socialist. This country’s in the shape it is because of people like you. You have no clue about hard work and being able to keep what you worked for, well not you. What incentive do people have to work when the government will set you up if you don’t want to work? With no one working growing food, “oh yes I forgot food comes from stores not farms”, working in the stores, producing gasoline and electricity, delivering supplies, building houses, building and repairing roads, assembling vehicles, etc, etc, the list goes on and on, we would be a third world country. Just what all you dim-o-rats are pushing for. Hard work is what has made this country great. And now you want to give it away. ?? 925 !!!

  2. To 9:35. I’ll bet you wouldn’t feel that way if it was your land. You’re probably one of those that don’t own a damn thing and are living off the government

  3. Quite the opposite 12:32. I have significant real estate holdings and a large diverse portfolio of financial investments. How did I manage that? Hard work and persistence, and never just sitting lazily on things my parents gave me.
