Colleges will be allowed to compensate student athletes after a federal court approved a $2.8 billion settlement with the NCAA. The decision will usher in arguably the biggest change in the history of college sports. The settlement resolves nearly five years of litigation in a case dubbed House v. NCAA, named in part for Arizona State swimmer Grant House, who sued to lift longstanding restrictions on revenue sharing. A commission formed shortly after the ruling named Major League Baseball’s Bryan Seeley as its new CEO.
