Maryland State Police Investigating Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash In Somerset County

(EDEN, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. in Somerset County.

The driver of a Kia Soul, a 72-year-old female, was pronounced deceased on the scene. One passenger in the Kia was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment of their injuries. Another passenger in the Kia was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The driver of a Jeep was also transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Around 5:21 p.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Princess Anne Barrack responded to the area of Ocean Highway (U.S. Route 13) at Flower Hill Church Road for a report of a two-vehicle crash. According to a preliminary investigation, the Kia was attempting to cross southbound Ocean Highway when for unknown reasons, was struck by the Jeep.

All southbound lanes are currently closed. Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration are assisting with the road closure. The crash investigation remains active and ongoing.
