Wicomico County Approves Resolution 53-2025 for Tower Lease Agreement with Verizon Wireless Improved Cell Coverage Coming to the Bivalve Area

Salisbury, MD – The Wicomico County Council has approved Resolution 53-2025, authorizing a tower lease agreement with Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless, a critical step forward in expanding and strengthening wireless service on the westside of the county, particularly in the Bivalve area.

The approval marks the successful culmination of two years of work by the Executive Office, which has led efforts to address connectivity concerns in underserved parts of the county.

“This is a big win for our residents on the westside,” said County Executive Julie Giordano. “Improving infrastructure—especially in our more rural areas—has been a top priority of my administration. This lease agreement will bring enhanced cellular service that supports not just daily communication needs, but also public safety and economic opportunity. We are so proud of the leadership and hard work done by our Emergency Services team and our former Assistant Director of Administration, Matt Leitzel.”

The new communications tower, to be installed as part of the lease agreement, will greatly improve cell coverage for local residents, first responders, and businesses in and around the Bivalve area.

With the resolution now approved, Wicomico County will move forward with implementing the lease and coordinating with Verizon Wireless on the tower’s construction timeline.
