AFL-CIO president’s reaction to Keystone XL shutdown shows divide between union leadership, members: experts

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka’s muted reaction to President Biden’s decision to derail the Keystone XL pipeline project shows the divide between union leadership and union members, Heritage Foundation economics research fellow Rachel Greszler told Fox News.

“The fact that Trumka was relatively indifferent to Biden’s move to kill thousands of union jobs is troubling and revealing,” Greszler said. “It shows that unions don’t actually represent workers’ interests, but rather union leadership’s quest for power.”

Trumka expressed displeasure with the pipeline project cancellation but also praised Biden as possibly “the best union president we ever had” during an “Axios on HBO” interview that aired on Sunday.

  1. Still haven’t heard a logical answer for stopping this? Aside from a personal (party) belief.

Do folks know how many gasoline lines are buried – which gets fuel from location X to location Y?

Do folks know TRAINS (above ground) still move nuclear waste across country?

Do folks know we are only here for a eye blink in the big scheme of things and so much money (by the USA) being spent for World Climate Change won’t do anything without a World mindset?

Plastic bottles – hello??? That huge spin in the pacific ocean with all of those plastics….non-profit groups are cleaning that mess.

Well when the money runs out (remember $30 TRILLION debt) for climate change efforts (electric cars – HAHAHAHA..need $$$ for that, Windmills, solar, etc., etc., etc) – what happens next?

Oil, natural gas from mother earth will still be here!!!!

Hell we still can’t recycle correctly (although burning it….one would think for ENERGY) either.

    I hate Thursdays!

  2. This is proof that UNIONS back SOCIALIST COMMUNIST DEMOCRATS for their benefits only and not employees / members.

They complain about recycling plastic does not work but yet nothng is stated about recycled plastic used in manufacturing fence post and other useful material.

Also they are pushing for electric cars. Where is the electricity coming from? You need FOSSIL FUEL to make the electricity.

  3. The famed investment genius from Omaha (pause to genuflect) owns the railroad that hauls the oil currently. The pipeline would be cheaper and safer but cost him a bit of walking around money. That’s why BitrMe and OweBama were opposed.
