MICHAEL BAUMANN SENTENCED TO TWENTY YEARS FOR ARMED ROBBERY AND VIOLATION OF PROBATION

On February 1, 2021, the Honorable Kathleen L. Beckstead, Chief Judge of the Circuit
Court for Wicomico County, sentenced Michael Christopher Baumann, 42 years of age, of
Salisbury, Maryland, to twenty (20) years in the Maryland Division of Corrections. Baumann
pleaded guilty to armed robbery and admitted to his violation of probation on February 1, 2021.
Upon his release from incarceration, Baumann will serve five years of supervised probation with
substance abuse and mental health treatment.


On January 31, 2020, Baumann robbed the Hebron Savings Bank on Riverside Drive in
Salisbury, Maryland. Baumann passed a handwritten note to the teller claiming to be in
possession of a gun and upon receiving approximately $2,715 in cash, he fled the bank. Officers
from the Salisbury Police Department responded, investigated and were subsequently able to
identify Baumann. At the time of this offense, Baumann was on probation for forgery.


Wicomico County State’s Attorney (SA) Jamie L. Dykes commended the members of the
Salisbury Police Department for their work in the investigation, specifically thanking Detectives
Underwood and Brittingham. SA Dykes also commended Assistant State’s Attorney Lauren
Bourdon who prosecuted this case
