The RNC isn’t playing games, and Laura Trump is making it clear that trying to play them will result in serious consequences.
The X account “Donald J. Trump News” made the claim that “Laura Trump and the RNC are preparing a monitoring force of over 100,000 poll watchers and 500 lawyers.” Laura Trump responded with a slight correct. That army is much bigger.
“Slight correction: our force is 230,000 poll observers & poll workers strong,” she posted to X. “AND 500 attorneys in EVERY BATTLEGROUND STATE. Our message is crystal clear: DO NOT CHEAT. If you do, we will find you and prosecute you to the FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW.”
Trump isn’t kidding, either. As my friend and colleague Ward Clark wrote on Monday, the RNC is suing the Milwaukee Elections Commission over a plan to limit the number of poll watchers in certain districts. The Commission announced that “certain precincts” would only be allowed one Democrat and one Republican poll watcher, though which precincts that would be weren’t specified, violating the requirement that “any election observer” must be able to “readily observe all aspects of the voting process.”
For what reason the Commission wanted to push this isn’t stated.
