The 9th Circuit Court has delivered a significant blow to Democrats by ruling in favor of a controversial state law requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration.
This decision has sparked celebrations among supporters of the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, who view it as a victory for election integrity.
Previously, lower courts had frozen the law, which mandates that election officials reject voter registrations that do not include proof of citizenship.
However, the 9th Circuit Court’s recent ruling reinstates the law, effectively overturning the lower courts’ decisions. The court’s statement read, “The district court’s May 2, 2024 judgment is therefore stayed to the extent that it bars enforcement of A.R.S. § 16-121.01(C).”
