Appeal to dismiss charges in Gavin Knupp hit-and-run denied; case headed back to circuit court

Maryland’s highest court this week denied a petition in the case against Tyler Mailloux, a Berlin man charged in the hit-and-run death of 14-year-old Gavin Knupp.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Maryland denied Mailloux’s petition to review an appellate court ruling in his case. As he did not have the right to an automatic appeal, Mailloux in April filed a petition to have the state’s highest court review the decision.

“Upon consideration of the petition for a writ of certiorari to the Appellate Court of

Maryland, petitioner’s errata to the petition, and respondent’s answer to the petition, it is this 18th day of June 2024, Ordered, by the Supreme Court of Maryland, that the petition for writ of certiorari is denied as there has been no showing that review by certiorari is desirable and

in the public interest,” the order issued this week reads.

  1. wonder how long they can stretch this out, mmmm waiting on a lessor charge or to get it thrown out all together
MONEY people just keep me out of jail, possibly a relative of Bidens

  2. I am not knowledgeable in the law. In fact, I’m not very knowledgeable at all about a great many things, so I’m hoping that somebody who is can explain this:

Why was nobody charged for hiding the car until the state police impounded it?

    1. The only answer I can think of is “money talks”. Why also is no one charged for hitting and leaving the scene. You cannot tell me he didn’t know what he did! They hid the car to evade justice.

  3. I’m thinking that TM’s attorneys likely had some sort of plan to drag things out – possibly with the hope of getting to the statute of limitations, but that’s clearly out the window now, and I’m betting (1) TM gets the full 10 years and (2) there is going to be an absolutely massive wrongful death lawsuit that will most definitely wipe the smile of RA’s face.
