ANNAPOLIS, MD — Governor Wes Moore today signed a memorandum of understanding with the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to advance Maryland’s offshore wind development in the Central Atlantic. The agreement will help make Maryland more competitive by building a more robust supply chain, creating more jobs for Marylanders, and supporting more coordinated, resilient, and sustainable development of offshore wind generation. Offshore wind development is also a critical component of Maryland meeting state climate goals.
The governor was joined at the State House for the signing by U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland; White House National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi; Bureau of Ocean Emergency Management Director Liz Klein; U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, Congressman John Sarbanes, and Maryland Department of Natural Resources Secretary Josh Kurtz.
“Maryland is serious about offshore wind – not just because of what it means for our environment, but also because of what it means for our economy,” said Gov. Moore. “Offshore wind means new manufacturing jobs, higher wages, and more opportunity to grow wealth for Maryland families. I’m grateful to the Biden-Harris Administration and all of our partners at the local, state, and federal levels for their partnership in this work. Together, we will build an economy that is both green and growing.”
The agreement recognizes the commitments of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and the State of Maryland to explore and develop areas for offshore wind leasing to ensure efficient development of offshore wind, maximize national domestic benefits from offshore wind development, and address the gaps in available offshore wind leasing area availability.
Maryland will play an important role in helping achieve the Biden-Harris Administration’s ambitious renewable energy goal of deploying 30 gigawatts of offshore wind energy capacity by 2030,” said U.S. Department of the Interior Secretary Deb Haaland. “Today’s announcement represents another important step towards a clean, reliable energy future with good-paying jobs and economic opportunities that are accessible to communities across America.”
“With today’s partnership agreement, the Biden-Harris Administration accelerates our work in lock step with key state partners like Maryland to build the American offshore wind industry, cut energy costs for families, and create thousands of good-paying jobs, all while tackling the climate crisis,” said President Biden’s National Climate Advisor Ali Zaidi. “Thanks to President Biden’s vision and strong partnership with leaders like Governor Moore, Senator Van Hollen, and Senator Cardin, the Biden-Harris Administration will continue to work closely with Maryland to responsibly develop additional areas for offshore wind leasing in the Central Atlantic and grow this industry. The Biden-Harris Administration will continue to use every available tool to ensure American workers and communities reap the economic and environmental benefits of this growing industry in Maryland and across the country.”
“BOEM is proud of our commitment to build a robust offshore wind industry that benefits communities and co-exists with other ocean uses,” said Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Director Klein. “This Memorandum of Understanding solidifies our partnership to collaborate on expanding the opportunities for offshore wind energy in the Central Atlantic.”
Offshore wind holds great promise to lower Marylanders’ energy costs, create good-paying jobs, and drive progress on our ambitious clean energy goals. That’s why I’ve been working closely with the Biden Administration and the Governor over many months to ensure we have the leasing space available in the Central Atlantic to unleash its full potential,” said Senator Chris Van Hollen. “With this pivotal agreement, we’re moving forward on this path to grow our economy and tackle the climate crisis head-on.”
“Offshore wind is a key component of the renewable energy transition and critical to achieving Maryland’s bold climate goals. I’m pleased to see this important collaboration between the Biden-Harris and Moore Administrations to accelerate the development and deployment of offshore wind projects, spurring economic growth and creating good-paying clean energy jobs in the process,” said Congressman John Sarbanes. “The Memorandum of Understanding signed today brings us another step closer to ensuring a greener, more sustainable future for Maryland.”
Today’s agreement follows the Leadership by State Government: Implementing Maryland’s Climate Pollution Reduction Plan executive order signed by Governor Moore on Tuesday at Henderson-Hopkins School. The order—one of the most comprehensive on climate change issued by a Maryland governor—directs a whole-of-government approach to address climate change, including requiring agencies to submit a Climate Implementation Plan by Nov. 1, action to propose new emissions standards, and the creation of the Governor’s Subcabinet on Climate.
I bet he did. Like Newsom if given the chance, he’ll make Maryland unrecognizable. These kind worry me.
How much is it going to cost the Maryland tax payers ?
The companies that build these wind farms do not want to use their own money. They will seek tax breaks and incentives, and government funding to get all this started. Here’s some food for thought. Alarmist Claim #1: Antarctic Peninsula is shrinking
FACT: 2008 peer-reviewed paper in American Geophysical Union found “a doubling in snow accumulation in
the western Antarctic Peninsula since 1850.”
Alarmist Claim #2: Glaciers are melting throughout the world.
FACT: A UN Report in 2010 reported that “glaciers increasing despite climate change… glaciers in many areas of
the world are increasing.”
Alarmist Claim #3: The IPCC stated the Himalayan glaciers would melt by 2035. .
FACT: The IPCC got that unsubstantiated and false statistic from a World Wildlife Federation brochure. In
January 2010, Time magazine article, Himalayan Melting, How a Climate Panel Got it Wrong: “Glaciergate” is a
“black eye for the IPCC and the climate-science community as a whole.”
Alarmist Claim #4: Polar Bears are disappearing.
FACT: Director of Wildlife Research with the Arctic Government of Nunavut: “Of 13 populations of polar bears
in Canada, 11 are stable or increasing in number. They are not going extinct, or even appear to be affected at
present.”
FACT: In the 50’s and 60’s there were between 5,000 and 10,000 polar bears. Today there are between 15,000 and
25,000.
Alarmist Claim #5: May 2013, President Obama claimed the climate is warming faster than anybody anticipated five or 10 years ago.”
FACT: Nature reported “For the period [1998-2012] the observed trend of temperatures is … not significantly
different from zero and suggests a temporary hiatus in global warming.”
FACT: The Economist reported “over the past 15 years, air temperatures at the Earth’s surface have been flat …”
Alarmist Claim #6: 2014 was the warmest year in modern record by 0.02 degree.
FACT: Only a “38% chance 2014 was the warmest year on record.” Margin of error, which on average is 0.1 degree
Celsius, made “impossible to conclude 2014 was the warmest year” according to the Berkeley Earth Surface

Alarmist Claim #7: In 2000, Democrats started saying that the science is settled.
FACT: I started getting phone calls from scientists disagreeing so I made a speech on the floor showing how many
scientists disagreed.
Alarmist Claim #8: Global warming is causing more tornadoes.
FACT: A NOAA scientist rejected global warming link to tornados stating “no specific consensus or connection
between global warming and tornadic activity.”
Alarmist Claim #9: Global warming is causing hurricanes to increase in intensity and frequency.
FACT: Geophysical Research Letters found “since 2006 tropical cyclone energy has decreased dramatically” to the
lowest levels since the 1970s. Global frequency of tropical cyclones has reached a historic low.
Alarmist Claim #10: Global warming is leading to an increased number of droughts.
FACT: IPCC Fifth Assessment report, previous “conclusions regarding global increasing trend in drought since
the 1970s were probably overstated.”
Alarmist Claim #11: Global warming is causing sea levels to rise at a rapid pace.
FACT: Journal of Geophysical Research found “there has been no statistically significant acceleration in sea level
rise over the past 100 plus years.”
Alarmist Claim #12: 97% of scientists agree global warming is manmade.
FACT: WSJ found the 97% consensus to be predicated on “a handful of surveys and abstract-counting exercises
that have been contradicted by more reliable research.”

and just remeber who pays for this from the beginning to the cleanup, plus paying more for electric
Yup…. Here is their thinking, ….
It’s going to cost ‘YOU’ a billion dollars for ‘US’ to save you a dollar……
More BS from Les Worst; just more tax dollars and rate payer funds down the drain.
John Sarbanes – Sarbanes voted with President Joe Biden’s stated position 100% of the time in the 117th Congress, according to a FiveThirtyEight analysis.[13] . Senator Chris Van Hollen – In 2007, Van Hollen became the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). In this post, he was responsible for leading efforts to defend vulnerable Democrats and get more Democrats elected to Congress in 2008, which he did. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi created a new leadership post, Assistant to the Speaker, in 2006 so that Van Hollen could be present at all leadership meetings. He was elected ranking member on the Budget Committee on November 17, 2010. Pelosi appointed Van Hollen to the 12-member bipartisan Committee on Deficit Reduction with a mandate for finding major budget reductions by late 2011. On October 17, 2013, Pelosi appointed Van Hollen to serve on the bicameral
Liz Klein – She was an architect of the Obama administration’s work to create a new offshore wind industry and leasing program. On January 18, 2021, U.S. president-elect Joe Biden announced Klein as his nominee for United States Deputy Secretary of the Interior.[3] U.S. senator Lisa Murkowski came out against Klein’s nomination citing her opposition to the development of the oil and gas industry in Alaska. Because of this, the Biden administration withdrew Klein’s nomination.[5] Tommy Beaudreau would later fill the role.[
Ali Zaidi – Beginning in February 2009, Zaidi served for eight years in a number of roles within the Obama administration, including the White House Domestic Policy Council’s (DPC) deputy director for energy policy and policy aide to U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu and as special projects coordinator at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB).[4] . Zaidi was associate director for natural resources, energy, and science at the Office of Management and Budget. Zaidi supported development and execution of the President’s economic and environmental policy, and led a team of experts overseeing a wide array of policy, budget, and management issues – including issues related to energy, agriculture, infrastructure, conservation, and technology – across a nearly $100 billion portfolio. In this role, Zaidi also served as OMB’s chief policy official for implementation of the President’s Climate Action Plan, which he helped design and draft.
Deb Haaland – She is a political progressive who supports the Green New Deal . On December 17, 2020, incoming President Joe Biden announced that he would nominate Haaland as Secretary of the Interior.[64] Before Biden nominated Haaland, many senior Democrats had voiced their support for her as Secretary of the Interior, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, and Senator Elizabeth Warren. Republican representatives Don Young and Tom Cole (a member of the Chickasaw Nation) also expressed their support for Haaland’s nomination.
I did all this to say this. The above mentioned people are all demarcates. They have all been associated with Obama or Biden or both..
Moore wants to run Maryland like Newsom runs California, Into the ground and bankrupt…..
