Work to Begin on the US 50 Drawbridge in Salisbury

Work on the US 50 drawbridge in Salisbury will begin on Wednesday, June 5th that will necessitate single lane closures on the US 50 drawbridge daily between the hours of 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Repairs to the drawbridge will include steel work, replacing roadway support purlins, retrofits, and joint seals.

Expect traffic delays on W. Main Street and Mill Street due to the alternate route. Alternate routes include; W. Isabella Street going East and West, N. Salisbury Blvd or the Bypass to go North or South.

We understand that roadwork can be an inconvenience. We are asking all motorists to plan for additional travel time and to please stay alert and be patient driving through the work zone.
Weather permitting, this work should be completed by the end of the month.

  1. Is this draw bridge even needed anymore ? When was the last time it was in need to allow a boat to pass through ?
