House Republicans allege they have irrefutable evidence that Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, lied under oath during his congressional deposition earlier this year.
According to a report by Fox News on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, these accusations surfaced following a markup session held by the House Ways & Means Committee on Wednesday, during which they voted to release confidential documents protected under IRS code 6103.
Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) asserted that Hunter Biden had repeatedly provided false testimony, which constitutes a felony offense.
Smith emphasized the necessity of applying the law equally, irrespective of the individual’s identity, to ensure public trust in the legal system.
“Hunter Biden has shown once again he believes there are two systems of justice in this country – one for his family, and one for everyone else,” Smith stated. He further remarked that the committee’s investigation aims to uphold the law and is not a personal vendetta against the President’s son.
The documents released allegedly reveal at least three instances where Hunter Biden lied during his deposition.
