The Biden team pulled out the short stairs to help Joe Biden minimize his tripping and falling issues.
But it still doesn’t change his issues, so he’s continued to have problems. As I wrote last week, his foot caught on the second to the last step, and had it dragged a second or so longer, he would have face-planted on the South Lawn off the helicopter.
But on Wednesday, on his way up the short stairs to Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews to go to Wisconsin to campaign, Biden had another problem. He went up slowly but then watch when he gets to the top of the stairs and steps into the plane. As he turns to wave, he gets very unsteady and then has to reach out with his right hand to steady himself.
Again had he done that out on the stairs, he might have taken a header. And this is just the short stairs, not even the long stairs. But that didn’t appear to be a gait issue, he just suddenly seemed to get unsteady. They need to do some explaining about this one. But whatever they are doing, it is not solving the issues.
Once he made it to Wisconsin, he went into “Joe Biden” mode — he has to pander to the local audience so out came a story about how his Delaware high school was somehow all devoted to Green Bay. I know, don’t look for any sense in any of these things he says. “Not a joke” is the key for: “Here comes something I made up.”
I want to see him wave just one more time — goodbye.
