Safari at the Quarry was a huge success and an economic driver for the county. We had hotels filled, restaurants packed, and happy people who cannot wait to return.
The event took place this weekend at the Connelly Mill Quarry Site and was conducted in a professional manner without incident. Brad Hoffman, with Live Wire Media, exceeded our expectations and he and his staff ran a well-organized and fun event that adhered to every part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
As the County Executive, I want to personally apologize to Brad Hoffman and Live Wire Media from Wicomico County. This organization has endured misinformation, slander, defamation, and misleading rhetoric from many facets of this county. I want Live Wire Media, as well as every other small business here in the county, or thinking about coming to our county, this is not how we do business. We pride ourselves in showcasing our county as “Open for Business” and “Business-friendly”. Those mottos were not displayed to Live Wire Media, and for that, I am truly sorry.
To address some of the community’s concerns: No one from the event drove through or even passed by the Shadow Hills community; no sounds could be heard from the county property by anyone in the community; the work site will be in the same condition as it was before the event took place; and we will continue business as usual mining and hauling dirt for our landfill.
I look forward to continuing this partnership with Live Wire Media throughout the duration of the MOU, which ends September 1, 2024.

Why would anything like this be held on county land and open up the citizens to potential lawsuits.
