Judge Finds Washington State ‘High Capacity’ Magazine Ban Unconstitutional

Cowlitz County Superior Court Judge Gary Bashor on Monday found Washington state’s “high capacity” magazine ban violated both the U.S. Constitution and the state’s own constitution.

The Associated Press noted Bashor reached his decision by weighing the ban in light of the Supreme Court of the United States’ Bruen (2022) decision.

On July 14, 2022, less than a month after the Bruen decision was handed down, Breitbart News reported that the decision did not bode well for 21st century gun controls because it requires such controls to withstand being tested via a search for  historicity in the American experience.

      1. I’m a progressive too, but I have some experience with frightening home invasions and I choose to keep a weapon for home defense. Shooting in real life isn’t like they show it in the movies. You might miss, especially if the home invaders are moving, and in the dark of night, and especially if your adrenaline is pumping. And it might take more than one good shot to stop an intruder from continuing to attack you. And there might be more than one person breaking in to your home. So, just for discussion purposes, say three intruders break into your house, and say it takes two shots for you to hit one of them, two more to hit the second, and two more to hit the third. That’s six bullets. Then you see that each of them is still standing and moving towards you. So another six shots to end up with two bullets in each intruder. Maybe that stops them. Maybe not. The numbers might vary, but you can see how the math easily adds up.
