According to a report by Daily Signal published on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, the FBI’s credibility took a hit as its description of a confidential source, who alleged President Joe Biden’s involvement in a bribery scheme, changed dramatically.
Sen. Chuck Grassley made this known while speaking at a Heritage Foundation symposium on the weaponization of government.
Grassley recounted how the FBI initially praised the informant, Alexander Smirnov, as “highly credible.”
To justify holding back a document known as an FD-1023, which contained Smirnov’s allegations, the FBI had previously cited the informant’s credibility and value.
However, Grassley, working with House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., took matters into their own hands by releasing the document.
