Worry For The Quarry

Local Community Under Siege: County Executive Overrides Residents’ Concerns

On September 2nd 2023, the Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano unilaterally entered a contract with Livewire LLC to host 4×4 off road events on land the County acquired through donation in 2018. These events, known as “Safari at the Quarry” are advertised as “the ultimate 4×4 playground” and purport to “build a community of 4×4 culture around this amazing facility”. Such use stands to have numerous detrimental impacts, not only on the residential communities closest to the events but to Wicomico County as a whole. Shadow Hills is the neighborhood closest to Safari at the Quarry and therefore has been working through their HOA as well as with many other residents of Wicomico County to shed light on this issue.

Efforts to address our legitimate concerns have been met by Julie Giordano with bullying and abusive tactics to silence us!

  1. She is trying to do the same thing with the liquor dispensary . This is what happens when we elect a teacher with no business experience into a position that should have had past business experience.

    1. Wicomico County is one of only two counties in the state with this type of liquor policy. What does that tell you 4:59 ?

    2. Follow this money trail right to Cheers by the college. This greedy arrogant a$$ is already made a fortune off mommy and daddys credit cards from college students for beer and wine and now he wants liquor too . Keep the alcohol system the way it is.

  2. Bullying is her style as she has no true competency in this position. Having seen her in action – she is in over her head!

Meanwhile, has anyone done the research to see how she will financially benefit from this decision that goes against the citizens’ desires?! The money trail might lead to something with consequences!

    1. Against 5 neighbors desires? ohh and the 2 karen council members….so 7? How about the rest thats the majority of the county that want wholesome outdoor family fun….on property that belongs to We the People? You can always tell a communist democrat by the lies they spew.

      1. Do you live near this location? How about we use it for good things walking trails etc to conserve it! No let’s tear it up! How about where do you live? I don’t want all that traffic in my neighborhood Connelly Mill is busy enough with trucks avoiding the scales now we are going to have 4 wheelers and dirt bikes we have to watch for as well??? Let’s put it in her backyard!!!! She needs to go!!!

        1. This neighborhood of people was the best prepared i have ever seen voice there issues to the council in the almost 20 years of watching it on pac 14. Each person did a excellent job presenting themselves and had facts to back it up . Looks like Julie needs to make a public apology to these people or resign.

    2. Oland is telling her everything to do! It is a female power trip at the G.O.B. With these two and Lankford who the county council tossed. Watch her in this council meeting address at podium. Nothing but true arrogance. We do not need a County Executive go back to just a council form of government. It has been a shit show and spending frenzy ever since slick Ricky took office in 2006.

  3. Clearly some council members are upset that they didnt get to exercise their power over every decision made in this county. Are written procedures that allow the council to proceed called loopholes also? Grow up Joe H. as my rep its disgusting to see you upset over such a trivial thing, maybe its time you retire from this as well. How about trying to do a few things well instead of EverythinG halfas. As for the karens in the Shadow development {especially the one that wrote the worry for the quarry farce} where was your concern about Enviromental impact when you built your homes? When the quarry was being built? When the quarry had heavy equipment running Every day? These are street legal jeeps these folks are talking about not open header mudhops trucks….wth is wrong with you people. You karens dont like to share at all do you? Should have a cpl full fleg mudhops n monster trucks first then maybe you selfise bastards would appriciate these pavement puppy low impact jeeps. This power hungry council has taught everyone not to involve them unless necessary. The majority of this County support you Julie, stay strong!

    1. It still should have been brought to us folks who live here! Plain and simple no need for your feedback! Plain and simple we had a right to know!

    2. So it is ok for Giordano to do whatever SHE WANTS with no input from the public? Lol, it is not adjacent to your house so WTH? Giordano fooled people to get elected when clearly she lacked the leadership skills to do the job. Her tenure has been clouded with nothing but chaos & cost the county $$$$.

  4. How sad….council karens are mainly upset because Julie didnt kiss the ring of the king first. Shanie upset because nobody woke her up n told her. Joe upset because people respect facebook more than the council. And that other irrelevant council member that was pointing out that when council does it its called procedure, when those that they disagree with do it its called a loophole. It gets more obvious everyday that what the majority of people want has become the least of priorities.

  5. Approving it now holds the county liable for injuries, etc. Doesn’t matter who is paying the insurance.

Did punkin chunkin teach you nothing?

    1. Shew boy of 1031am comments

I be bringing my 4×4 twelve foot with over sized wheels there to compete

If you don’t drive a 4×4 diesel truck. You need not comment

  6. From talking to some of the nearby residents, they are concerned with the way this whole event was created without the knowledge of anyone except Julie and event person. County personal and equipment are being used to prepare for this event at taxpayer expense. Land was donated to county for the dirt to be taken to landfill and then possibly turned over to parks and rec for a park. The community said they would not have supported original donation to county if they knew it would become an area for off roading. They are not as concerned about the initial planned jeep event as they are about future events that may include 4 wheelers or other off road vehicles. They are also concerned about the people who come in to use this area at all other times, nights and weekends. They feel the county sanctioned event will “open the doors” to this area and people will think it is ok to use it whenever the choose and the nearby neighbors will be the ones that have to deal with the noise and issues. They already have multiple ORVs that use this area at all times of day and night. They have recently encountered people from Dorchester county, Delaware and Pennsylvania, plus numerous locals, who have brought ORvs in because they were told it was ok to ride there and was “open to the public”. No one from the Jeep organizer event or the county has plans to secure the site 24/7 when the sanctioned events (yes, more than one is planned) are not taking place.

    1. 11:35 Oh boo Hoo. Those residents in their big houses knew what was around them when they bought those big houses. Don’t get to complain now. Suck it up buttercups. No different then the race track up the road. This is why we can’t have nice things🙄

      1. This event is only happening because Queen Julie is getting a kickback from the company owner. Much like how she pushed the alcohol dispensary bill only because the Knoors, Bazards and Rosko in Fruitland paid her heavily to do so for their own personal advantage…

          1. Not like you’d believe actual proof because of your own bias…but its easy to prove.. you can research the financial contributions of the those three turds and see that they were the only people in the entire county who spoke in favor of it…you know its corrupt when Mike Dunn and that fatty Bill Chambers were also behind it…this aint a Dem/MAGA thing….its Julie’s CORRUPT Queen like regime…

      2. The race track is private property and has been in existence for 50 + years? Yes, we knew farm land, wetlands and woods were around us. We knew the borrow pit was there in which a housing development could not be built. We knew the train tracks were there ND deal with the midnight and 6 AM Sunday morning whistles. If you want a 4×4 track, buy some land and build one, but don’t do it on our taxpayer wallets.

  7. Mr Albero, Thank you for keeping us up to date with the Wicomico and Worcester county government follies. Along with this folly there is one coming just east of it only a couple miles at the cost of 250k and that is The dog park of Wicomico at Leonards Mill Park. This facility will provide a place for all criminal owners of Pit Bull dogs to let them run unleashed in a fenced in area to attack other dogs and people. This will just add to the illegal drug and hooker trade that goes on daily at Billy Jackson Park. This is just where I would want to carry my dog to mingle with gun toting thugs with dogs with no medical history of shots and infected feces and urine everywhere along with all types of trash including used heroin needles like you find in all the parks. Think of how many dregs will take unwanted animals there and just drop them off and possibly kill them in this secluded location. There are already homeless people camping here. Hell the new park at Harmon is loaded with trash daily and lays on the ground for more than a week before it is somewhat picked up. I really think the council and the liberal weirdos that run the parks show need to rethink this and spend the 250k on current parks that are crumbling.

  8. does the county get permission from the residents near by for every event. Lets see. Did we ask residents about having different events at any of the County Parks over the years, how about fireworks at JMB, County Stadium, or Parkside in years past.

  9. All of these locations you mention are already designated or designed to do these things. This specific area is designated to be a borrow pit for the dirt to be taken to the landfill. Nothing else.
