Maryland tolls could be going up for the first time in a decade thanks to a proposed bill in Annapolis.
“I have a dirty little secret for you the tolls need to go up no matter what,” said Delegate Marc Korman. “I don’t like paying high tolls more than any of you, but if you look at our tolls compared to our peers our tolls are low.”
Delegate Marc Korman introduced HB1070 which would require the Maryland Transportation Authority to implement near optimal toll rates, increasing the cost for drivers.
“The goal is to have $50-$100 million of the toll authority revenue be available for other transportation needs of the state,” he said. “To do that you’re going to need more revenue.”

Consumers have choices in where to buy groceries or which online merchant to use.
But we are a captive audience when faced with a toll facility. Public works are sold to us on the basis that tolls will pay for the structure or road via bonds, and after it is paid for, will be used to maintain that project. Period!
The thieving cowards in Annapolis linked the gas tax to rise in sync with inflation during the Rain Tax reign of OweMalley so they wouldn’t have to vote on future increases. So MD should be loaded with revenue. What is needed is actual fiscal responsibility, which is not a hallmark of Less More maladministration.
