After a press conference to address the growing threat of school violence in Worcester County, Maryland, Worcester County State’s Attorney Kris Heiser and Worcester County Sheriff Matt Crisafulli released a video and some statistics to show how dangerous public schools have become. If anyone ever attended a school board meeting, Superintendent Lou Taylor, his administration, and most board members would have you to believe that everything is under control: “nothing to see here folks.”
The statistical fact is, public schools have become more dangerous to students, teachers, and even parents and citizens who visit or attend extra-curricular events. This issue must be corrected, as government has an obligation to protect its citizens. Right now, there are obstructionists in the school refusing to cooperate with law enforcement to address school safety and its endangering citizens.
Worcester County Public Schools has seen a 67% increase in physical attacks on students, a 32% increase in verbal threats, 171% increase in fighting, and an increase of 225% physical attacks on staff by students.
You are far more likely to be assaulted in a Worcester County Public School than you are anywhere else in Worcester County. We watched teachers being assaulted, weapons seizures, violent fights occurring, and then we also discovered that law enforcement wasn’t being notified about many of these incidents, meaning the situation was worse than we even knew,” Heiser said. “If [WCPS doesn’t] address it, there will be more serious and harmful consequences to the students and teachers in Worcester County to come. – Kris Heiser, Worcester County State’s Attorney
The video below will give you a glimpse of what frequently occurs.
Why IS the WorCoBdoEd picking fights with law enforcement? Looks like the students are learning BULLYING from our highly-educated superiors!
When he was a vice principal,Lou Taylor covered up the teacher that had sexual relationship with student… that teacher is now facing criminal charges. Instead of immediately reporting it to authorities, which is the law -he is a designated reporter for God’s sake!!! Lou let the teacher leave Worcester and start teaching in Somerset county. Lou doesn’t want to look bad, so deny deny deny is his protocol…or just sweep it under the rug. Disgraceful..
The majority of the Worcester County BOE is protecting the man in the castle Lou Taylor. They are used to getting away with things and not being held accountable. They are a mafia that must be dismantled. Pick your BOE candidates wisely in the 2024 Primary election (District 5) and a couple of the other districts come this November. Now is the time to flip this board with members who will cooperate with law enforcement.
8:39. They aren’t as “highly educated “ as you think they are. They just think that they are better than everyone else, and want to push their twisted way of thinking on every one else
3:25 I believe that is called “sarcasm” when he said they are “highly educated! ?
You’re right! Highly-indoctrinated to believe their mortgaged pieces of paper are evidence of their superiority!
Someone needs to inform the Worcester Board of Education officials that crime and misbehavior in schools should be going down, not up. Any increase at all is too much and should not be tolerated.
They’re afraid of losing state and federal funding if they hold the perps accountable.
