One person was shot dead and four others were rushed to hospital after a gunman opened fire near a Baltimore library on Saturday morning.
Baltimore Police said the shooting erupted shortly after 4am across from the Woodlawn Branch Library, roughly eight miles from the center of Baltimore.
Officers arrived at the scene to find five victims with gunshot wounds, and one was pronounced dead at the scene. The status of the shooter is not clear.
Footage from the parking lot where the shooting unfolded showed investigators focusing on a bullet-riddled white Hyundai vehicle.
Why was the library even mentioned? Were the victims returning books at 4 a.m.?
(“Across from” the library are Woodlawn High School, the back end of Security Mall, two gas stations and a 7-11.)
