A lifestyle and travel magazine held their annual Reader’s Choice Awards and readers voted the City of Norfolk as one of the friendliest cities in the year 2020.
The Conde Nast Traveler magazine asked their readers to rate a city’s “friendliness” for the 33rd annual Readers’ Choice Awards survey.
Norfolk ranked seventh out of ten cities in the magazine’s awards. The magazine says readers ranked Norfolk seventh for encapsulating Virginia’s motto “Virginia is for lovers.”
Norfolk’s waterfront area being an active LGBTQ+ community by its annual Hampton Roads Pridefest and the city’s seafood restaurants, museums, and attractions is what the magazine says led to Norfolk’s rank.
Here are the 10 cities readers voted the friendliest around the world:
- Greenville, South Carolina
- Charleston, South Carolina
- Key West, Florida
- Savannah, Georgia
- Alexandria, Virginia
- Jackson, Wyoming
- Norfolk, Virginia
- Santa Fe, New Mexico
- Chattanooga, Tennessee
- Asheville, North Carolina
I thought Baltimore would be at the top
If it weren’t for the fact that VA is bluer and higher-taxed than MD, it might be a nice place to live!
I’d love to know who said Key West was a nice place. They obviously have never been…
