Authorities in Virginia are searching for a truck driver after a box truck crashed off of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel on Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred around 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday near mile marker 14 on the northbound side of the bridge.
Officials said, “The truck has gone overboard on the east side of the northbound span between North Channel Bridge and the northernmost island. CBBT Police are still investigating the circumstances of the accident.”
Multiple agencies including the Virginia Beach Fire & Rescue and the U.S. Coast Guard are trying to locate the box truck driver.
Heavy traffic delays are expected on the bridge as crews make emergency repairs and as the search for the box truck driver continues.
God Bless and watch over this family, the driver is a Salisbury local.
Someone just sent this in to me. Local man Eric Mezick drove tractor and trailer over Side Bay Bridge Tunnel, still missing!
It’s true
Eric from Johnsons Exhaust? Say it ain’t so..
Looks like a cloverland truck. This isn’t the 1st truck of theirs that has gone over the same bridge.
Prayers for the driver and family.
R.I.P. Eric. I love you, my Friend.
My thoughts and prayers are with Eric’s family. God bless you all!
