Governor Moore Orders Maryland Flag to be Lowered in Honor of Hall of Fame Baltimore Orioles Third Baseman Brooks Robinson

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Governor Wes Moore has ordered the Maryland flag to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset tomorrow, Monday, October 2, in honor of the life and legacy of Baltimore Orioles legend Brooks Robinson.

“Brooks Robinson led a life that showed he was a champion both on and off the field,” said Gov. Moore. “His iconic legacy will endure through his countless contributions to the City of Baltimore, the State of Maryland, and to Major League Baseball.”

  1. One of my pet peeves!
The symbolism behind lowering the USA flag and/or the state flag has been lost and totally corrupted by a feel-good race to lower it for any reason those in power conjure up or justify. Rare is the week without one or more of these flags spending some time at half-mast.

Yes, each of us has worth as humans without regard to our social station. Brooks Robinson was a standout baseball player and by all accounts a fine person but he retired in 1977 from the game, and from baseball related activities 30 years ago. At 86, a heart condition caused his death. RIP
