Washington, D.C. – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) released the following statement after Maryland student achievement scores showed less than 5% math proficiency in Baltimore County grades 7 and 8 and less than 50% reading proficiency statewide in grade 3.
Statement From Congressman Harris:
“Maryland student achievement scores came out. Less than 5% math proficiency in Baltimore County grades 7 and 8, and less than 50% reading proficiency statewide in grade 3. What’s the sense of promoting STEM education in high school and college if our eighth graders can’t even do math? We need to stop the woke school agenda and return to reading, writing, and arithmetic.
It’s time to offer school choice to all parents statewide whose children are in schools that are failing to educate them.”
