NAACP Maryland chapter seeks bold solutions for low performing schools

Some members of Maryland’s NAACP chapter are convinced it’s time for bold action to relieve the crisis in the classroom.

Maryland’s NAACP concluded a two-day conference, held in Linthicum Heights, which attempted to find solutions to the state’s low performing schools.

Baltimore City and Prince Georges County schools, which top the list, have the highest percentage of African American students.

“We talk about problems all the time. Now is the time to talk about solutions,” said Wandra Ashley-Williams, a leader in Maryland’s NAACP Chapter.

The organization invited representatives from all 24 local school districts in Maryland, however, just seven of the 24 districts were represented.

“I think that’s an insult and the punishment should be, we should ask for their resignations,” said Marvin “Doc” Cheatham, former President of Baltimore’s NAACP chapter.

“We do plan to communicate with the districts which did attend and the districts that did not attend and then we’ll decide what the next steps are,” said Ashley-Williams.

However, Cheatham is convinced it’s time for immediate bold action.

  1. It starts at home! They can’t expect the schools to instill in the children what they should have been taught at home, like honesty, respect for others and their property, manners, good behavior, and other life’s essentials such as that.

    1. Amen 7:27 – I worked in the local school system for a good many years before retiring. Predominantly it was the creole and African American kids that caused issues. Really, REALLY, bad parenting (lack thereof) that produced entitled, feral monsters. Granted, it wasn’t all, and I was thankful for the rare polite kid in that group, but collectively over 30 years, that’s what I saw. Welcome to the new America.

  2. Not to be a doom and gloom type, but when was the last time the NAACP solved a social problem within the black community?

    We’ll wait.

  3. shut up and get back on the government plantation or we take away all your freebies and then you’re gonna have to get off your lazy ass and get a job! your kids belong to the liberals now! might as well consider them dead!
which they will be once the libs get done with them! at least brain dead at a minimum!

  4. So they met for 2 days and what did they accomplish? Looks like all they did was find someone else to blame…as usual…
