Congressman Harris Releases Statement On Debt Ceiling Vote

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Harris released the following statement ahead of his vote on the Fiscal Responsibility Act.

Congressman Harris Statement: “After reading this bill, I have decided to vote against it, because only in Washington would a bill that actually increases the debt ceiling by $4 trillion be celebrated as a “Fiscal Responsibility Act.” My constituents sent me to Congress to permanently change the way Washington does business, and this includes getting our fiscal house in order. We cannot, in good conscience, continue to write blank checks for our federal government knowing that our children and grandchildren will be the ones responsible for paying off the largest debt in American history.”

  1. when more demonicrats vote for it then rino’s that tells you who won and who lost. the american people lost!

  2. If I buy it, I pay for it

The part of the process where you decide whether or not to “write checks” is when you negotiate the budget and spending. Threatening not to pay the bills for things you’ve already agreed to write checks for is called being an irresponsible deadbeat. Congressman Harris should be ashamed of himself for this pandering. Thank goodness there were more than enough legitimate leaders in the Congress and Senate to get the Fiscal Responsibility Act passed.
