Ravens, Lamar Jackson agree to $260 million contract extension, making QB highest paid NFL player

The Baltimore Ravens said Thursday the team has agreed in principle with start quarterback Lamar Jackson on a new, five-year contract extension valued at $260 million – making him the highest-paid player in the league.

The team and the Jackson, the NFL’s 2019 MVP, have been in negotiation for two years. Jackson last month requested the Ravens trade him after the team applied the non-exclusive franchise tag on the quarterback after failing to come to terms on a long-term contract over the last two years, according to CNN.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport broke the news in which he reports $185 million of the money is guaranteed.

In a video posted via the Ravens’ official Twitter account, Jackson posted, “You know for the last few months, there’s been a lot of …. nail-biting … but for the next five years, there’s a lot of flock going on! Let’s go baby.”

  1. LMAO – LOL – HAHA – Baltimore is STUPID – a selfish player who thinks they are worth more that they are. Smart man though but not a team player…. NFL has become a JOKE

  2. Interesting numbers. $260,000,000 divided by 85 regular season games (17×5) equals $3,058,823 paid per game, or $50,980 paid per minute (60 minutes per game). Figuring the offense pays 1/2 the game, Lamar Jackson will make $101,980 each minute he’s on the field playing quarterback.

  3. people get on the eagles for signing bad people as players but baltimore takes the cake when it comes to hiring criminals and thugs!

  4. Rewarded for NADA!
Can’t win when its time and sure as hell cannot talk in front of a mic.

    The world we live in.
