BERLIN – As Worcester County’s COVID-19 positivity rate jumped above 9% this week, health officials can’t say for certain why local rates are now exceeding state positivity levels.
On Sunday, Worcester County’s positivity rate inched ahead of the state rate. By Thursday, the rate in Worcester County was 9.65% while statewide it was 7.73%. The daily positivity hit its December high on Thursday at 9.65%, up from 6.43% last Tuesday, Dec. 8. The last time the positivity rate exceeded 9% in Worcester County was on May 31.
And these numbers will quickly drop as the vaccine is distributed. Don’t let the fear of a virus most people recover from ruin your holiday plans.

What people fail to understand about Virus’s and Immunology IS it’s not the virus that causes havoc . It’s those infected owns immune response that does. Many people are infected with communicative virus that they can infect others with that their own immune response to is never symptomatic or threatening to their well being. STD’s are a perfect example many people do not even know they have them until someone they have infected has a symptomatic immune response. We have seen Octogenarians infected and survive and at the same time young healthy people succumb to it. Genetics is not Democratic and we are not biologically equal.
