‘I always thought he was invincible:’ Family’s tragic tributes to Temple University cop, 31, gunned down by teen suspect while on duty: He was shot in head and killed just hours after seen patrolling to keep streets safe

Family and friends are mourning the loss of a Temple University police officer who was allegedly gunned down by a teen suspect just hours after he was seen patrolling the streets to keep the community safe.

Miles Pfeffer, 18, is accused of shooting Christopher Fitzgerald, 31, multiple times on Saturday night before going through his pockets and trying to steal his gun, according to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.

Fitzgerald’s loved ones, Temple University students and members of the community paid their respects on Sunday at a memorial that continued to grow just steps away from where the cop lost his life.

Video footage by Action News captured Fitzgerald’s final moments doing what he loved – serving and protecting the community – just hours before he was killed
