Below is the board agenda, which includes a contract for a van, a document management solution (copiers for the school system), a new Internet Service Provider, athletic equipment reconditioning, and several board policies, which there has been no review or discussion by the board in any meeting. Malone ramrodded the agenda with a “nothing to see here folks” approach. Look at the agenda carefully, and look at the record of voting for 5.1 – 5.6 for approval of consent items in 5.7.
Yes, you heard and seen correctly. Malone makes a motion to lump all consent items 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.5, 5.6 together. He removed 5.4 from the batch of items for a separate vote, so that he could recuse himself for a conflict of interest with the service provider. A motion was called by Gene Malone on these items, which Allen Brown made a motion to approve and David Plotts made a second to the motion. John Palmer and Bonnie Ennis were the only ones who voted YEA. The rest were completely silent, including the call if anyone opposed.
For item 5.4, Allen Brown asked if there was a motion to approve the Internet Service Provider. David Plotts said “I’ll approve” instead of “Motion to Approve.” Bonnie Ennis made a second to a motion that never occurred. Brown then said, “All in favor” and then said “Aye” when all other board members said nothing. Brown was the only one who voted and he never called to see if anyone opposed. Brown carried the motion and approved it. Roberts Rules of Order clearly was not followed, and Brown did not have legitimacy or the votes to carry the motion.
There was a call for two separate votes, yet the meeting minutes below were recorded as a SINGLE VOTE for both, with ALL IN FAVOR OF SAYING AYE.
Looks like somebody needs to resign. ASAP!
Why did Hazel and Beauchamp not respond? I thought they were elected to bring accountability to the board?
one staff member told me that they do not even read the board documents prior to the meeting or respond to requests from the public unless its their friends…..
So sad…and we all had hope for a new school board. The incumbents are hardened to old habits. The majority of new members better get on those old dogs. Lead or be lead!

The board has a 5-2 GOP majority and still endorses communism…….
Even the “conservative” members like Beauchump and Palmer are TOTAL FRAUDS…..its been two months and NOTHING is happening but worsening violence and shortages in the schools….we have no teachers, no staff and no safety in the schools…..and they just pat themsevles on the back……Recall the board and Save our Schools.

I think the concern here is misplaced. That is how a Consent Agenda works; the items under consideration are routine and haven’t raised concerns by the members as they have been formulated before getting on a meeting agenda. They took care to have the Chair excuse himself from voting on one item; perhaps his employer has/had a business relationship with the company getting the contract.
A Consent Agenda is a time saver for meetings of this sort permitting routine items to be approved in one vote and permitting more discussion of less routine items where there may be differences to be discussed.
I’m happy for an elected Board and most members had my support when I voted. No issue here in my view.
damn glad I sent my kids to private school. cost me dearly but was worth it! cant afford private then home school. get you kids away from these groomers!
Allen Brown is a total racist and hates white people. They will all do as he says. The school system is the biggest taxpayer draw i the county and as you see its about there and there friends agenda.
Dear readers,
No one should be shocked at this, and especially at the actions of Allen Brown. This small town mentality is exactly the cancer that plagues the county schools. There is a reason why Roberts Rules are the standard for meetings such as these. For them to be disregarded in such a manner is clearly in violation of the Maryland statutes for open meetings. My suggestion is to take them to task and involve Annapolis in this.
Such a sad state of affairs.
