Tucker Carlson has weighed in on the row over a ‘misogynistic’ Wall Street Journal op ed mocking Jill Biden’s use of the title ‘doctor’, saying that she held the same honorific as Dr Pepper and accusing her of having ‘status anxiety’.
Carlson used his Fox News show on Monday night to show his support for Joseph Epstein, who wrote Friday’s article.
Carlson said that Jill Biden, who has a PhD from the University of Delaware, was ‘a doctor of education, which means basically nothing.’
He said he was making a ‘true and obvious point’.
‘Jill Biden is not a doctor, no. Maybe in the same sense Dr Pepper is,’ he said.
‘In 2007, at the age of 55, she got a doctorate in education, so she’s got the same degree as Dr Bill Cosby.’
Cosby, serving a three to ten year sentence for sexual assault, obtained a doctorate in education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1976.

Jill’s doctoral dissertation is available online, for the moment. Comment’s about its content, structure, grammar and conclusions have not been kind. U of DE should be ashamed, but probably felt they had no option but to crank the diploma mill for the wife of a senator.
No problem with her electing to continue teaching over the years; Joe was busy riding Amtrak and chasing skirt, and the kids were out of the nest with their drug problems largely out of the public eye.
So respect for teaching; none for credential signaling, especially now the shallowness of the effort is revealed.
