Baltimore (WBFF) — With just days left in office, Governor Larry Hogan is taking measures to create more accountability in public education. The governor is removing red tape that made it difficult to prosecute school systems for potential crimes.
As a Republican governor in a heavily Democratic state, Governor Hogan’s eight years in office have been a fight. And some of his biggest battles involved public education.
“What we don’t have is enough accountability in schools,” Hogan told Project Baltimore. “We haven’t fixed the persistently failing schools. That is the part we have to continue to work on.”
Hogan says much of what he wanted to get done concerning education over his two terms was blocked by the legislature. But he was able to pass one important measure that will remain, even after he leaves office next week. In 2020, he established the Office of the Inspector General for Education.
Can’t wait for Anthony Brown to take up this cause! Unless he’s too busy trying to find a Public Defender for Marilyn Mosby…
