Mayor Jake Day, Secretary of Housing & Community Development

Jake Day is the 28th Mayor of Salisbury, Maryland. Born and raised in Salisbury, he was first elected to City Council at the age of 30 and unanimously elected President. His tenure as Mayor is marked by a resurgent Downtown, including nearly $650 million in new construction, the establishment of two youth community centers, and the creation of a permanent supportive housing program—Housing First—to address chronic homelessness. Before becoming Mayor, Jake’s work focused on revitalizing downtowns and small towns, making them more vibrant, livable places. He worked for the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, most recently as Director of the Center for Towns, utilizing design, planning, and implementation assistance to establish vibrant, sustainable small cities and towns. He served as national President of the American Institute of Architecture Students and Editor-in-Chief of CRIT, a journal of architecture.
Jake is a Major in the U.S. Army, currently assigned to the Army National Guard as an Information Operations and Special Technical Operations Officer with the 110th Information Operations Battalion. Jake is a veteran of the Global War on Terrorism and recently returned from a combat deployment to Somalia, Kenya, and Djibouti where he served as the Special Technical Operations Chief for Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. Mayor Day served as the 79th elected President of the Maryland Municipal League, representing Maryland’s 157 municipalities. During his tenure, the League’s signature legislative priority passed: the restoration of transportation funding to pave streets and roads in cities across Maryland. He also serves as one of Maryland’s representatives to the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Local Government Advisory Committee. Jake earned a Master of Science in Nature, Society & Environmental Policy from Oxford University where he graduated with distinction for his dissertation. He also earned a Master of Urban Design from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Maryland. Jake is the proud father to two beautiful daughters, Lilly and Olivia.
The best thing about that is we will be getting rid of him as Salisbury’s Mayor!
Democrats in Maryland Rewarding him for Ruining Salisbury for them !!!!! WELL DONE !!!!!
The only accomplishments that I see is the shithole that he’s turned this city into. Crime, rainbow side walks, folk festival crap, bike lanes ruining the streets, and now low income housing thought to be for students.
Get him Out !!!!! See YA !!!!!!!
Democrat Puppet !!!!!!!
Must kiss alot of ass !!!
Why can’t he just leave Maryland all together!!! We don’t need him around here! He mentioned his daughters but not his wife? Hmmm
I was told they are divorced now – or in the process of.
I guess he’s ditched the wife?
SHE divorced HIM. I think it was final in October 2022.
This clearly proves the caliber of incompetency and corruption in DC. Coming from an illegitimate govnor to boot.
at least he is gone from here
The new governor just lost any credibility that he might have had with me. Maybe Jake can apply his bike lane thinking to housing, his ill temper to a larger group of Marylanders, and help drive the State to more insider deals. So many other better qualified Marylanders.
Oh……My……Gawd!
Keep Democraps OUT of OUR Govt !!!!!!
Jake is such a piece of crap but at least he’s gone from here
Don’t let the door hit your butt on the way out !!!
Good Riddons !!!!!
Take your Bike Lanes with you !!!!!!!
What a circus! Clown Day goes to western shore while the Clown Wannabe Heath takes over as Mayor and the worthless Boda steps up as City Council President. My sides hurt from laughing. Thank you for taking Day off our hands Moore, I think you two deserve each other! Maybe next election Salisbury will elect some REAL and INTELLIGENT people to get the needed jobs done…starting with a new Police Chief to address the crime here.
Will all of Maryland now be covered with bike lanes and rainbow flags and crosswalks? I hope that Heath hates them and does away with all of them and patches some potholes instead.
He’ll be taking his orders from Greater Salisbury just like Day.. Time to find some citizens who are practical, studious, and can’t be bought and elect new city and county councils, Mayor, etc. BTW, city police chief isn’t elected. We need representatives, not kings. We need people who are willing to be tough on violent crime, blight, wasteful spending and are public servants.
Maryland citizens are going to learn the hard way having a total democrat controlled state.
…and so just like Day and Ireton had a sleazy deal years ago about which one would be mayor and which would be on council…today we get the next iteration of what looks like sneaky positioning as Jack Heath (who couldn’t get elected as mayor) becomes mayor and Jake gets elevated for “being a team player.” Our votes are worth nothing.
Couple of quick thoughts:
Let’s not overlook Jake’s Master of Embellishment. When did he become Regular Army, which is what that sentence construction suggests? I was not in the military but think his recent service overseas exposed him primarily to paper cuts as what those who served describe as a REMF. I salute all who choose to serve even if it’s to polish their resume.
Also, it will be instructive to see how many of his City Hall buddies join his staff ‘cross the bridge.
Lastly, look for more vertical subsidized housing across the state ala the Ross. And a Maryland covered with Jakeabouts, bike lanes on major roads, blue markers dotting roads, paths and trails, scooters strewn across the landscape and a rainbow painted Bay Bridge.
With him wrapped up in the A’polis social scene, any chance for an honest accounting of the folked festivals actual costs and revenues? Asking for a friend.
take his turnabouts with him !!!!
Whoever they put in his place won’t be any better, Salisbury will still be a nightmarish shithole.
Good ridden to bad rubbish.
At least he can’t do anymore damage here in Salisbury……but he’s still gonna be screwing the state of MD.
Jakes on his way to prison
lmao! the peter principle in effect!
with those teeth jake could eat corn on the cob through a picket fence
Now Devreco can acquire state property on the cheap!
