Johns Hopkins warns of ‘disturbing increase in serious violent crimes’ around Baltimore campuses

Last week, Johns Hopkins community members fell victim to ‘two especially brazen and disturbing incidents’

Johns Hopkins University has seen a “disturbing increase in serious violent crimes” near its Baltimore campuses.

The oldest research university in the United States recorded six armed robberies on and around its Homewood campus and one near its Peabody campus — two of which were abduction attempts — between Oct. 6 and Oct. 27 alone, Branville Bard, the university’s vice president of public safety, said in a Monday letter to the community.

“These acts of violence tear at the fabric of our community, and the university is working to support the victims, increase our public safety presence in the area, and assist the Baltimore Police Department in its investigations, which are ongoing,” Bard said in the letter.

  1. Well Baltimore votes Democrat. They get what they get. That city went from a nice weekend getaway to stay away if you want to live.

  2. 16 years ago, my wife was being treated for ovarian cancer and on a couple of occasions, Hopkins put us up overnight in the apartments they won one street away from the cancer center.
When I saw where they wanted us to stay (and WALK back and forth), I began packing some heat and watching my back.
Street lights were not working and where they weren’t working seemed to be a place for young men to congregate.
It was scary back then. I can’t imagine what it’s like today….”squeegee boys are killing people RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE POLICE in Baltimore.
But, they DO vote solid democrat. May be a correlation there…
